WEEK #4 (Weekly Drawings 2019)

Managed to do a second drawing this week.

This is Therese - she's a sweet little French lady that actually said she's seen my drawings before and wanted to pose for me.
(Hey - I don't often get willing victims).

She wanted to fix herself up and comb her hair first but I told her please don't! She's cute the way she is.

#elflocks:  When you have elf locks, you wake up with your hair all knotted.  Story goes - the elves have tied and tangled your hair in the night while you were sleeping.  Hmmm... those elves visit me a lot!

WEEK #4 (Weekly Drawings 2019)

Met this fellow named Henry at the Casino. We got to talking over coffee and he said he'd like to play more games but ran out of money. So I made him a deal - I'd hire him to go out in the lobby and pose for me. So I got my photos to work from, and he got to play more games. Hope he was lucky.  I did enjoy drawing him.

WEEK #3 (Weekly Drawings 2019)

A drawing of Betty - the lady I volunteer at the nursing home with.  I loved looking through my photos of her because she has some very interesting expressions.

You can tell she's a very thoughtful person, and it's like you can almost see what she's thinking.  Actually, that's why I put her in a crowded street instead of at the nursing home where the actual photo was taken.  I felt that she'd be an intriguing person that would stand out from a crowd.

WEEK #2 (Weekly Drawings 2019)

Managed to squeeze in two drawings this week.  Couldn't help it because there were just so many cute people at the New Years party I attended.

Grannie (Sharon)
Anne

That's the first time I've ever been to a party with karaoki.  Lucky for everyone present, I wasn't drunk enough to try my hand at singing.

Chanter comme une casserole: This is a French term for someone who sings like me - someone who can't sing worth a darn.  Translated it means "to sing like a saucepan".  In my case, maybe a saucepan that's in desperate need of cleaning.

WEEK 1 (Weekly Drawings 2019)

This week I'm gonna introduce you to my nephew Evan.  He's carrying his son Thomas on his shoulders. If I recall, in this pic they are off to visit Santa Claus.  Have you ever watched the parents carrying their kids in the lineup on their way to visit Santa?  Its hilarious.  I just might do a few more drawings on the "how to hold your baby" theme.  The kids are usually so squirmy they are half falling out of their parent's arms.  And these days the parent is usually giving attention to their cell phone as well.  Lots of good body positions to see!

I chose a fairly easy pic to draw from this week - just because it's a busy time of year, plus its nice to get one's confidence up at the start.

I also chose to do this pic - well - because I want to draw people in my life, but also because I liked the composition of it.  To me - its almost like an abstract.  Its a bunch of curved lines (normal for me) and a few straight lines (which I try to keep to a minimum).  Its also a bit silly, which I like - because Thomas (TJ) is sitting up there so comfortably... as though he's riding an elephant (which is just the kind of thing TJ would do if he could find an elephant)

Update:  Thomas said he likes the drawing and he was impressed that I got his watch in the picture.  To be honest, I didn't know that was a watch.  I do like his arm a lot though.  Baby's arms are so squeezable and pinch-able.   I found out that the term for that kinda thing is cute aggression.

Cute aggression is a superficially aggressive behavior caused by seeing something cute such as a human baby or young animal.  People experiencing cute aggression may grit their teeth, clench their fists, or feel the urge to pinch and squeeze something they consider cute, while not actually causing or intending to cause any harm.

The reason we experience cute aggression is because when we find something sooo cute, our brain "brings us back down to reality" by providing negative thoughts.

Some drawings done prior to 2019

In 2019 I'm going to do one complete drawing per week.  I did it a few years ago and it wasn't too bad - so I'm gonna try it again.  Wish me luck.
