New Drawing in Conte
Got some conte in Regina, so I was anxious to try it out. It isn't for all pictures (the way I use it anyways) but I do like it now and then.
Francis is like my Michael used to be - he refuses to sleep. So basically, he will sleep when and where he drops - and get up in about 15 minutes - and poof - that's it for today! Yup - brings back memories.
I am just trying to get a few things together to put in to our local gallery, but I'm just not sure which ones I'm going to end up choosing. This is kinda different for me - so I might end up putting this one in. I'm working on another drawing as well - one of Kathryn's friends.

WIP - work in progress
It might look like I haven't been drawing much lately, but in fact I have. I just haven't finished a few things here, so I haven't posted them. I started out doing a picture of Michael as a zombie and quite enjoyed doing it. I'm not sure how to finish it so I started on a picture of Heather - with the same memento mori theme and actually I liked it a lot. I decided to not finish that at the moment because I wanted to do it on a large paper - so I redid it. I wanted the size, but sheesh - its so slow going on the larger paper.
At any rate, I've struggled with the softness of the paper and I've got things down where I want them. Now I have to go over it and do the last layer - to get in the details. It's so darn hard to do details on this paper! Its hard to describe why my technique doesn't fit with the paper. All I can say is it crumbles up on the details, so when you look at the picture, its like looking through a foggy plexiglass.
I hope to get down to business and finish the thing up today. I used to be able to do an entire picture in one day and with this paper - it will take me all day (or maybe more) to do the details in this. But I'll try....
