Drawing #89

So about this drawing...   I'd call it "new beginnings" - not so much for the viewer going in to get a haircut, but a new beginning for Jason himself.  He's pursuing a career in barbering.  To his left - you see a bit of chaos.  But to his right, there's a light reflected in the mirror.  Its clean and ready for new adventures.  His chair is empty and he is waiting to start his new life.  He may bring some of the baggage over from his left - and he may find he will keep some and will throw some things back.  He has a lot of choices to make.  I wish him well in his endeavors.

Drawing #88

A redo of Tara and her husband Colin.  The other one I did was small but this one will be used for a project I have in mind.

Band Hall

I put my drawings up from the Halloween party so the people in the band could see them.

Work in Progress

My current work in progress. I've been at him for two days and it might be another two before I get through that mess of tie dye - sheesh!
This is his natural pose. I don't usually like to draw smiling people, but he smiled and laughed all night long - so ya - that's just the way he is.

Drawing #83

This is my nephew Thomas of course.  He's just sitting quietly in the back seat in his car seat.  Don't you wonder what the heck goes through a child's mind when they are sitting there quietly??

Drawing #82

A beautiful girl who came up to me while I was drawing at an art show and asked about portraits.

Drawing #81

A child at Jason's Straightedge barber shop.   I'm assuming it's this little fella's first haircut.  Don't know if he's happy with it or not.

Drawing #80

I've had a photo of my nephew Thomas and my sister for a couple of years now and I finally decided yesterday to get at it.  So now that I'm finished it, I think its one of my personal favorites. I just love the mess and tangle of arms and legs when babies are being carried.  And in this drawing, its so typical; you scoop up the half - dressed kid, grab your car keys, pop a plug in its mouth and away you go - time to go home!

I couldn't remember exactly what his onesie said - and I could have asked my niece, but when I got drawing him, I thought - I don't usually like "finishing" kids so I'm not going to make it say anything in particular.  Kids aren't really a "finished project".  Every day is different for them, and we put far too many labels on them.  So if I took it as the writing to be on his behalf - well - he speaks baby talk and I don't, so I guess its none of my business.  If its a label put on him by an adult - then I'm going to make it so the meaning changes every time you look at it.

Drawing #70

Okay, I think we are almost ready for the tea party now.  This is me in the tub.  I initially wanted to do my nephew's toes, but little child toes are almost too cute to do.

Another "pre tea party" pic.  My daughter putting her makeup on.

Update:  I didn't like the hand on this one, so I got another pose with the wrist exposed.  So ... the redone pic of my husband...

Drawing #67

Another drawing of Jason (straightedgebarber)

The two Jason drawings....

Jason's tattoos intrigue me.  I'm sure that everything he has written has a personal meaning to him.  I don't have to know what these messages even are; I am just interested in the fact that they are there and mean something to him.

clavis aurea:  "the golden key".  The discovery of hidden or mysterious meanings in text.

Drawing #66

My mom's hand.  Guess she's getting ready for the tea party.  Personally, I kinda like it.

Drawing #65

Jason Gauthier (straightedgebarber)  I've never done a comb before, and those just aren't as easy as one may think!  Not for me anyways - I'm not that fond of drawing inanimate objects.  But generally, the picture was a whole lot of fun to draw.

I mean - a person has to get their hair done prior to attending a tea party right?

Drawing #64

Okay, now that August is done - I can get back to drawing for my exhibition project:

Here's a cute little guy that I'll put at one of the tables - not quite sure where I might put him though.   Maybe at the kid's table.  Oh - his(?) name is Kuba.

Drawing August: The good, the bad and the ugly

This is a project through Twitter where people from all over the world do one drawing / sketch / or painting per day and post them.

My daughter in law with one of her cats.

I was going to spread out all of my 31 drawing august drawings and take a pic, but I think they are in a few different piles... so I'm not going to root through a lot of stuff to find them at this point.  Anyhow... here are some of them..... and it was nice to draw every day (which I generally do anyways) but to finish one a day - - that was difficult!  Glad its done!

I tried to draw this fellow enjoying the sunshine.  Now that he's done, he looks a little dead.  But believe me - he's supposed to be just relaxing.

I wanted to do a drawing this gal for a long time, but didn't want to do a big "official" picture and spend too long on it.  So this one drawing a day gives me an opportunity to do quick pics.

She's from a cosplay photo.  I have no idea who she is or who she is trying to be for that matter.  But I liked the lines.
